MUSEUM REOPENS: Manchester Museum welcomes back visitors after months of closure

Manchester Museum has been able to reopen it’s doors as part of the governments roadmap out of lockdown.

Step 3 in the governments roadmap out of lockdown has seen the reopening of museums, art galleries and theatres. Manchester Museum are excited to finally have visitors to the museum after not having them in the building since last November.

For Museums across the country, the lockdown resulted in them having to close the doors to the public. But for the vivarium team at Manchester Museum, whilst it’s not quite been business as usual, their attendance has still been required to look after the residents that live there.

The museum has been working hard behind the scenes in preparation for the reopening. Matt says it has been a big team effort.

A number of safety measures have been put in place, including operating a reduced capacity and one-way system. Hand sanitising stations have been installed and face coverings must be worn at all times when inside the museums.

The team have taken on a few new projects, including the breeding of the rare harlequin toads back in March. Matt says it’s exciting to have visitors back in the building to see what the team have been up to.
