Nuno Espírito Santo has been relieved of his duties as Tottenham Hotspur manager, just four months after joining the North London side.
Spurs currently sit eighth in the Premier League, 10 points adrift from league leaders Chelsea.
After their latest 3-0 loss to Manchester United at the weekend, they have a current league record of 5 wins and 5 losses.
Nuno signed a two-year deal with Tottenham in June after leaving Wolves the month previously.
Tottenham’s search for a manager in the summer took many turns, with prime target Paulo Fonseca’s talks breaking down at the last minute.
So they turned to the man who had took charge of Wolves for four seasons, leading them to the Europa League whilst in charge.
A statement released by Spurs, states the following: “The club can today announce that Nuno Espírito Santo and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have been relieved of their duties.”
”A further coaching update will follow in due course.”
The newly vacant role has many speculating that Antonio Conte will return to London to fill the managerial position.
In Conte’s last stint in London, he had great success with rivals Chelsea. Winning a Premier League title and a FA Cup.
Tottenham’s hunt for silverware is still on going, having not won anything major since the League Cup in 2008.
It’s this lack of silverware that nearly saw key player Harry Kane leave in the summer, but Spurs fans will be hoping a manager like Conte could convince Kane to commit his future to Tottenham.
For now though, Spurs will be preparing for their next game in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening as they are at home against Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem.
They then travel to Everton for a mid table Premier League clash with Rafa Benitez’s side.
