Contact in Manchester is ready to spring back into action and swing open their doors as they prepare for their autumn season.
Contact is where young people change their lives through the arts, and audiences of all ages experience exciting new shows. As the leading national theatre and arts venue in the UK, they place young people at the decision-making heart of everything.
At Contact, young people aged 13-30 lead the way, working alongside staff in deciding the artistic programme, making staff appointments and act as full Board members. The theatre has been mostly out of action since 2017 due to a multi-million pound building transformation, which was shortly followed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Kicking off the season at is the Contact Young Company’s Everything All of the Time, directed by Contact’s Artistic Director, Matt Fenton. Prepare for a physical and visual journey through a world of hedonism, love, anger, nostalgia and hope.
And that’s just the tip of the ice berg. More information on upcoming performances can be found here.
The theatre aims to present contemporary theatre, dance, live art, cabaret, spoken word, circus, comedy and music, supporting artists who work across any or all of these art-forms.
Keeping the focus on the next generation of artists and performers, Contact has a particular interest in work that speaks to people under 30, that is socially engaged or that young people find exciting and relevant.
The engaging and varied programme provides a professional platform for young people and communities to represent themselves and the issues that most affect their lives, consistently attracting large numbers of young people, and those from diverse communities, and absolutely everyone is welcome.
